My older son Myles, who lives in Los Angeles, was never a fan of any team sport (just as well if you live in the land of the Dodjahs and the USC Trojans). That is, until he discovered roller derby, and became a fan of the LA Derby Dolls.
But the LA Derby Dolls got nuthin' on the Roller Derby team from New Orleans, who are the centerpiece of the NOLA Running of the Bulls. At the centerpiece: the Big Easy Rollergirls, wearing bull horns and bearing whiffle bats while chasing a crowd from bar to bar in the French Quarter. This encierro is even PETA friendly. The next one is scheduled for July 11.
I've noticed that the Atlantic Magazine has been getting better and better, but in March, they outdid themselves with the valuable service of bringing this information to the larger public. Thanks to Wayne Curtis.
